How To Get Here

From the Airport

(YUL: Montréal – Trudeau)

  • Taxi – Fares are fixed from the airport, $48.40 for Taxi except from 11PM to 5AM when it’s $55.65. Plus tip, of course.
  • Public Transport – Just $11 per person (including a twenty-four hour bus and metro pass – other passes are available, see http://www.stm.info/en/info/fares/transit-fares/aeroport-p-e-trudeau-747), take STM Autobus 747 from the airport to the Central Bus Station. From there you have three choices:
    • Walk (follow the instructions, below)
    • Metro (Take the orange line in direction of Montmorency. Exit the metro station toward St-Denis keeping right. Follow de Rigaud across St-Denis to Square St. Louis following the park to the end and then turn left. The house is half way up the street.
    • Taxi from the station for the short ride.
  • Driving – Follow the road out of the airport toward the ramp for the Autoroute-520 west (Ouest) looking for the Aut-20 east (Est). Be careful on the round-a-bout and take the third exit for Centre-Ville Montréal (downtown Montreal). Merge on to Aut-20 east (Est). Follow the signs for QC-136 (centre lane) and merge. Continue through the tunnel staying to the right hand side. Near the very end of the tunnel take exit 6 for Berri staying to the right and merging on to St. Antoine. Turn left at Berri. Continue up the hill on Berri and turn left on to Cherrier. Make sure you are in the middle lane at the end of Cherrier and turn right keeping to the left hand lane. At the next light turn left. (A flashing green light is a protected signal, the other direction has a red light) on to des Pins. And then turn left at Laval (the third street).

From the Central Bus Station

(Station d’Autocars – 1717 Berri)

  • Taxi – About $10
  • Walking – Exit the station toward Berri. Turn right (north) toward Ontario street, turn left (west) toward St-Denis and turn right (north). Continue uphill on St-Denis to Sherbrooke, crossing the street and turn left. Continue to Avenue Laval, the first street on the right and we are halfway up the street. (About a 10 minute walk.)

From the Central Train Station

(Gare Centrale)

  • Taxi – About $12
  • Public Transport – Walk across the street to Place Bonaventure (in winter you may want to take the underground passageway). And follow the signs for the Metro. Take the metro in the direction of Montmorency to the Sherbrooke metro station. Exit the metro station toward St-Denis (ITHQ) keeping right. Follow de Rigaud across St-Denis to Square St. Louis following the park to the end and then turn left. The house is half way up the street.
  • Walking – Exit the station toward Réné-Lévesque, turn right. At the corner, cross Réné-Lévesque (left) and continue on Robert-Bourassa (north). Walk up to Sherbrooke street. Turn right and continue on Sherbrooke street until Avenue Laval (on the north side of the street), one street past Hotel-de-Ville. (About a 20 minute walk.)

From the Cruise Port

(Grand Quay of the Port of Montreal)

  • Taxi – About $12
  • Public Transport – Take bus 715 – Vieux Montréal in the direction of Berri-UQAM, remembering to ask for a transfer. Exit at the Berri-UQAM metro station. Take the orange line in the direction of Montmorency one stop until Sherbrooke. Exit the metro station toward St-Denis keeping right. Follow de Rigaud across St-Denis to Square St. Louis following the park to the end and then turn left. The house is half way up the street.  Alternatively – You can walk to the Place d’Armes metro station by walking east on de la Commune and turning left on to St-Sulpice which becomes St-Urbain. Take the metro in the direction of Montmorency to the Sherbrooke stop. Exit the metro station toward St-Denis keeping right. Follow de Rigaud across St-Denis to Square St. Louis following the park to the end and then turn left. The house is half way up the street.
  • Walking – Exit the port turning right on to de la Commune. Turn left at St-Laurent and continue uphill. Turn right at Sherbrooke. Continue on Sherbrooke street until Avenue Laval (on the north side of the street), one street past Hotel-de-Ville. (About a 20 minute walk.)

From New England

  • Take the I-89/I-93 or I-91/I-93 to Quebec. After the border continue north (Nord) toward Autoroute-10 West (Ouest) over the Champlain Bridge. Right after the bridge take exit 58 (it is the second exit but comes very soon after the first exit) to continue on Aut-10. Continue until the end of the highway. You are now on Robert-Bourassa. Turn right on St-Antoine. Continue down the road and turn left on St-Laurent. Continue until des Pins and turn right again. Turn right on Laval (the fifth street).

From New York

  • Take the I-87 into Quebec. Continue on the Autoroute15 north (Nord). To take the Champlain bridge (Pont Champlain) you need to exit 53 and follow the signs for Montreal. Right after the bridge take exit 58 (it is the second exit but comes very soon after the first exit) to continue on Aut-10. Continue until the end of the highway. You are now on Robert-Bourassa. Turn right on St-Antoine. Continue down the road and turn left on St-Laurent. Continue until des Pins and turn right again. Turn right on Laval (the fifth street).

From Québec City and Points East

  • Take Aut-20 into Montreal. Before the Louis-Hypolite-Lafontaine Tunnel (Don’t try to pronounce it, you’ll miss the exit…) take exit 90 for Route-132 west (Ouest.) Take the exit for Route-134 for the Jacques-Cartier bridge. Be careful while merging and be aware of the signs above indicating which lanes are open. (Watch your speed carefully as the police are prevalent on the bridge.) Stay to the left as you exit the bridge continuing up to Sherbrooke and then turn left. You will do a slight right at a fork in the road to get on Cherrier. Make sure you are in the middle lane at the end of Cherrier and turn right keeping to the left hand lane. At the next light turn left. (A flashing green light is a protected signal, the other direction has a red light) on to des Pins. And then turn left at Laval (the third street).

From Toronto or Points West

  • Take Autoroute 20 into Quebec. Follow the signs for Autoroute 40 / Autoroute 540 to join the Aut-40 east (Est) into Montreal following the fork in the road. Take exit 66S on the left side of the road to get on the Aut-15 south (Sud). Merge on to the Aut-15. Take exit 63E on the left side of the road on to QC-136 and merge on to the highway. Continue through the tunnel staying to the right hand side. Near the very end of the tunnel take exit 6 for Berri staying to the right and merging on to St. Antoine. Turn left at Berri. Continue up the hill on Berri and turn left on to Cherrier. Make sure you are in the middle lane at the end of Cherrier and turn right keeping to the left hand lane. At the next light turn left.
