Montreal B&B

A Unique Montreal B&B Experience

The Gingerbread Manor Bed and Breakfast in Montreal is ideally located in the plateau, steps away from Old Montreal, downtown and the Sherbrooke Metro station.

A Real Montreal B&B

If you are looking for an authentic Montreal B&B experience, Gingerbread Manor is ideally located in the heart of the Plateau. Our historic home is just steps away from the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal, the bustle of downtown, and the Sherbrooke Metro station. Built in 1885, the manor is a prime example of the late-Victorian architecture that defines this historic district. Originally named the ‘Gingerbread House’ due to the intricate Victorian ornamentation—an architectural style often called ‘gingerbread’—our current Manor is a significantly larger property that includes a beautiful, original carriage house.

Our Montreal B&B

For guests traveling by car, we offer two secure (unheated) garage spots located directly behind the house. These spots can be pre-booked via email and are best suited for mid-sized vehicles. This parking includes full in/out privileges, giving you the freedom to explore the city without the stress of losing your parking space. Please note that while there is no direct indoor access from the garage, a short walk around the building brings you to our main entrance. Street parking is also available on a first-come, first-served basis. We are always happy to help you navigate local signage and permit zones (PMR001) to ensure a smooth arrival.

Historic Montreal B&B Rooms with Modern Comfort

We offer five tastefully decorated rooms: Cartier, Frontenac, Carleton, deMaisonneuve, and La Suite (Champlain and Wolfe&Montcalm) – all within a strictly smoke-free environment. Each room is thoughtfully furnished with high-quality bedding to ensure a restful stay. As you climb the winding wood staircase, past our resident statuette, you’ll find Cartier (featuring a private en-suite), as well as Carleton and Frontenac, which share a sleek, modern shower room. On the second floor, de Maisonneuve offers its own private en-suite, while La Suite (the combination of two rooms, Champlain and Wolfe&Montcalm) provides a more spacious two-room layout with a shared water closet and a separate bathroom featuring both a bath and a shower.

The Neighbourhood

Our location is a true walker’s paradise. We are situated right on the edge of the Plateau Mont-Royal, adjacent to the iconic Square St-Louis and its famous Victorian fountain. From our front door, you can stroll down the pedestrian-only Prince Arthur Street, well-known for its vibrant atmosphere and ‘Bring Your Own Wine’ (BYOB) restaurants.

On the nearby St-Denis and St-Laurent boulevards, you will discover an eclectic mix of independent boutiques and wonderful local cafés. We are just minutes from the vibrant Village and a short walk from the city’s most exciting nightlife. For those who love to shop, the downtown core and Montreal’s famous underground city are easily accessible. You can also hop on the Metro at Sherbrooke station or grab a Bixi bicycle from a nearby dock to explore the city’s extensive bike paths. Whether you are heading to the top of Mount Royal for the view or down to the Saint Lawrence River, everything is within reach from our front door.

The Breakfast

We pride ourselves on a daily breakfast that celebrates local flavours and the multicultural spirit of the city. Enjoy your meal at your leisure in our spectacular dining room, which features grand turn-of-the-century mouldings and an ornate, once coal-fired fireplace. Our mouth-watering menu changes daily, offering signature dishes like banana walnut pancakes, apple-cinnamon waffles, white chocolate orange pancakes, and our fan-favourite ‘Gingerbread Man in the Basket.’ We also offer fresh fruit parfaits, local artisanal cheeses, and gourmet coffee to help you fuel up for a day of exploring. It’s the perfect time to chat with other guests or plan your day’s adventure in Montreal while enjoying our homemade preserves.
