Bed and Breakfast in Montreal – Gingerbread Manor

Montreal B&B - The Gingerbread Manor

The Gingerbread Manor Bed and Breakfast in Montreal is ideally located in the plateau, steps away from Old Montreal, downtown and the Sherbrooke Metro station.

Our Montreal B&B

Our first bed and breakfast was called the Gingerbread House because of all the gingerbread (ornamentation on Victorian homes is often called gingerbread) ornamenting on the exterior of the building. With that in mind, we named this the Gingerbread Manor, not only because of all the gingerbread, it is much larger than our original B&B and is a manor house complete with carriage house.

We are located in the downtown area, right on the edge of the Plateau (Plateau Mont-Royal,) next to Square St-Louis with its beautiful fountain and close to the pedestrian Prince Arthur Street with its BYOB (bring your own bottle) restaurants.

On St-Denis and St-Laurent you will find even more restaurants and some wonderful cafés. We are just minutes from the Village and just a walk away from most of Montreal’s Nightclubs. Walk over to the downtown core, where you will find some of the greatest shopping in Montreal’s famous underground city, or hop onto the Metro (subway) which can take you far and wide. Rent one of our bicycles or grab a Bixi bicycle and peddle yourself around the city.

Two secure (unheated) garage spots are available behind the house. They may be pre-booked by email and fit mid-sized cars. This parking include in/out privilege, so you don’t need to worry about finding another parking spot. Unfortunately, there is no direct access to the house from the garage, so you will need to walk around to get into the house.

Street car parking is also available on a first-come first-served basis. Parking is extremely limited, so we do appreciate a heads-up if you do need a spot. We will do our best to help you find a spot, but we cannot guarantee it. (Please note, if you plan on taking your car, we will point out the parking zones and signs, but we will not be able to reserve a spot for you a second time.) Permits for the resident zone are available from the central parking meters, zone is PMR001. Remember to place the ticket in the window on the street side, so the inspector can see it.

Five tastefully decorated rooms (Cartier, Frontenac, Carleton, Frontenac, de Maisonneuve and La Suite) are available for our guests, in a smoke-free environment. They are comfortably furnished with quality bedding. Up the curving wood staircase with its statuette, you will find the three first floor guestrooms (Cartier, Carleton and Frontenac). Cartier has a private en-suite. Frontenac and Carleton shared a bathroom that is equipped with a modern shower. On the second floor there are two bedrooms, de Maisonneuve with private ensuite. The other room, La Suite compromises two rooms (Champlain and Wolfe & Montcalm) that share a water closet, as well as a separate bathroom with bath and shower. The bathrooms are equipped with towels, mouthwash and body lotion as well as soap, shampoo and conditioner. If you ever need anything else, we will gladly do our best to provide it. (We do stock emergency supplies in case you have forgotten to pack something.)

We pride ourselves on our daily breakfast, which you can enjoy at your leisure while chatting with other guests, watching TV, listening to music, or planning your busy day in Montreal. In our spectacular dining room, with turn of the century mouldings and ornate fireplace (once coal-fired), you can enjoy items from our mouth-watering menu which changes daily and offers dishes such as banana walnut pancakes, apple-cinnamon waffles, white chocolate orange pancakes, breakfast parfait, gingerbread man in the basket and much more.
